Professional services organizations (e.g. law firms, accounting firms, consulting organizations, etc.) are becoming increasingly aware of the sustainability impact of their day to day operations. Travel, technology, facilities, paper usage, waste streams, energy usage, and purchasing policies all contribute to the carbon footprint and environmental performance of these organizations. Increasingly, professional service firms are being required to report on their sustainability when responding to Requests for Proposal from prospective clients. Additionally, the ‘war for talent’ within these firms can be won or lost based upon the firm’s social responsibility reputation.
