Sustainability initiatives are occurring at all levels of government. Cities, in particular, have been active in developing and implementing sustainability programs. There are both policy related opportunities such as zoning changes as well as management opportunities such as energy purchasing and facility management that can be pursued by city clients. There are also significant opportunities to involve citizen participation and promote business community actions. Many universities have also begun to develop sustainability programs. For universities and colleges, there are significant opportunities related to procurement, facility management, waste management, and administration function management.
